A note about the editing process post 1
So, as you know, not that long ago, I finished writing my book :)
And, after you write your book, and let it rest for a while, the next step is editing.
Most of the time, editing hasn't been my favorite part in the creative process. Through school, as a literature major, I often sought the help of a tutor or one of my friends to make it easier on myself.
However, I am starting to think about editing differently. I mean, it is necessary, and sometimes re-writing can be fun.
I like the idea of cutting out parts that don't work.
And I set a deadline for myself because that's just how I do.
January 2019...
Then my book will be finished.
*sigh*
I'm still not done reading through it all the way yet. What has become abundantly clear is that I wrote too many words! Uggh... I think even my last sentence was too many words.
I'm working on it. It's a process. But I will take the advice of The Write Practice's Pamela Hodges and work on revising my plot BEFORE the grammar or syntax.
I plan to get this together on a set schedule as soon as I figure out my ability to produce. Writing, I committed to approx 500 words a day, more or less, and that's what carried me through.
BUT, with editing, it's a different thing. Should I do it by time? By words? By chapters (there are 20 chapters)?
I don't know but I do know I will be finished by January 2019-- and then I can start making some money moves.
I think I'm gonna design the book cover before all this, for inspiration sake (see that post coming soon)
